Two gunned down in metropolis

KARACHI: Two men were shot dead in separate incidents on Sunday, while three others were killed in accidents in different parts of the metropolis.

Unidentified assailants shot and killed a man, identified as sixty-year-old Kajal Khan, in Janjal Goth near the Super Highway. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to the heirs.

SHO Naveed Soomro said that the deceased had rotting vegetables in his hand, which he was feeding to animals, when he was shot. He added that the killing appeared to be motivated by personal enmity. Police collected two bullet shells and other pieces of evidence from the crime scene and are investigating the murder.

Separately, an unidentified man was shot and killed by armed assailants in Defence Housing Authority. The suspects fled from the spot.

In another tragic incident, a man was killed after being electrocuted near Tariq Road. Mohammad Gul, 30, was working in front of Dolmen Mall when he was electrocuted and died on the spot.

Meanwhile, another man lost his life after being electrocuted in Korangi. The deceased, identified as Dildar, 50, had reportedly received an electric shock when he tried to switch on the water pump at his residence.

Furthermore, a wall collapsed on the eighth floor of Ocean Mall in Clifton, killing a labourer. The deceased was identified as Junaid Ali, 32.
