RAWALPINDI: Special Consumer Court Judge Abdul Hafeez has imposed a fine of Rs20,000 on the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) for failing to supply water, despite receiving regular bills from citizens.

The court has ordered Wasa to install tube-wells to improve water supply in Rawalpindi.

Moreover, Judge Abdul Hafeez told Wasa to develop tanks to store water, replace out of order water pump and buy at least three water pumps in spare so that the consumers in the city could receive uninterrupted water supply for 45 minutes each day.

He said that the improvements should come about in six months. He also issued warning to Wasa managing director of strict action for non-compliance of court order.

Judge Hafeez pronounced the sentence while hearing a plea filed by Muhammad Ishaq.
