Secondary School Teachers: Govt told to stop cutting funds

Fifty-four SSTs have filed a writ petition, government was deducting ad hoc relief funds of up to Rs4,000.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Acting Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed provisionally restrained the Punjab government from deducting ad hoc relief funds from the salaries of secondary school teachers (SSTs) in the province. Fifty-four SSTs have filed a writ petition and submitted that the government was deducting ad hoc relief funds of up to Rs4,000 from their monthly salaries every month which they had been paid before regularisation of their services. The petitioners said that this deduction was illegal as benefits once granted could not be withdrawn. They prayed to the court to declare the deductions as illegal and without any lawful authority.
