No evidence: Theft charges against Veena’s employee dropped

LAHORE:

A judicial magistrate on Monday dismissed a theft case lodged by actor Veena Malik against a former employee.

Magistrate Imran Yousaf was told by the investigation officer that Malik was not cooperating with the investigation. He said she had refused to let the police enter her house to examine the place and gather evidence against the accused. On his recommendation, Yousaf directed the police to release the accused, Muhammad Munir.

Malik had accused Munir of stealing Rs1.6 million and some gold jewellery from the actor’s house in Defence Housing Authority (DHA). Talking to The Express Tribune, Munir rejected the allegations and said Malik had tricked him into visiting her house to collect his outstanding salary for three months and then called the police to arrest him.

He said Malik had been rude to him and his wife after she broke up with cricketer Muhammad Asif who had recommended Malik to hire the couple for domestic help. Munir said his brother, Muhammad Mushtaq, had been sacked after his arrest on the theft charge.
