‘Govt upgrading existing dispensaries’

Minister for parliamentary affairs says at present there are only 28 dispensaries

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Muhammad Azam Khan Swati on Wednesday informed the Senate that currently there was no proposal under consideration with Federal Government Polyclinic Hospital (FGPC) to establish more dispensaries in the capital.

Responding to a question during Question Hour, he pointed out that the Rural Health Centres (RHCs) were being upgraded to cater for a load of patients in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) and FGPC.

He said at present there were 28 dispensaries, attached with FGPC including Mother and Child Healthcare Centre Aabpara and Civil Surgeon Dispensary, Sector G-7-3/4 have been upgraded in order to reduce the load on government hospitals.

To another question, Swati said the charges for stents in state-run hospitals were exactly according to directions of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
