QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal has welcomed the peace agreement between the United States and the Taliban.

The US signed a landmark deal with the Taliban on Saturday, laying out a timetable for a full troop withdrawal from Afghanistan within 14 months as it seeks an exit from its longest-ever war.

The agreement is expected to lead to a dialogue between the Taliban and the Kabul government that, if successful, could ultimately see an end to the grinding 18-year conflict.

In a statement, terming peace agreement a historic move, he said the deal will have a positive impact on the region. He said the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan have suffered a lot and it is hoped that the US and Taliban deal would play a key role in ending terrorism and tensions in the region.
