PSL opening ceremony

When we see that our efforts are not being acknowledged, we feel deceived

Letter February 29, 2020

ISLAMABAD: The most awaited season has officially begun in Pakistan. It is the Pakistan Super League’s 5th edition. The opening ceremony was however pretty disappointing. Everyone saw how mismanaged the whole ceremony was. From an ordinary anthem poorly written script to wrong choice of talent, bad sound and lighting arrangements, and unimpressive performances and no time management, everything was a complete mess. Twitter was full of fan feedbacks who were enraged and rightly so. We as fans wait for PSL for the entire year, pay for the tickets, invest our time by skipping classes or office hours, tolerate traffic jams, take to social media to promote it because we are a nation that loves cricket but when we see that our efforts are not being acknowledged, we feel deceived. It is now the 5th year of PSL. It is about time that PSL is taken seriously and because of the emotional labour and money invested, is not something you can keep experimenting with. As a fan, I can only hope that good, local talent is promoted in the closing ceremony and that the PCB makes up for the blunder of the opening ceremony.
