Impact of cartoons

Cartoons should also be produced in Urdu language with the representation of our culture

Letter February 29, 2020

ISLAMABAD: Cartoons are one of the most popular forms of entertainment for children. There are a number of TV channels that broadcasts various kinds of cartoons for children nonstop. In the old days, children would spend most of their time outdoors rather than spending their whole day in front of television sets. Now children watch television so much that they are addicted to it. Parents believe that it gets easier to feed babies while making them watch television. They have no idea what the psychological and physical effects are of excessively watching television. Children that are more exposed to cartoons are generally aggressive and sometime suffer from psychological problems.

Parents need to be aware of the content of the cartoon their children are watching. If there is use of profanity or explicit language and violent scenes in cartoons, parents and government should restrict these kinds of content. TV channels should instead produce educational and quality cartoons. Cartoons should also be produced in Urdu language with the representation of our culture as this will encourage our children to learn about the ethos of our society.
