PESHAWAR: The provincial government has tasked its cabinet members to formulate short and long-term goals and policies for improving governance in the province, while the chief secretary was directed to form a committee to devise rules within a month for the laws passed.

This was directed by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Tuesday while presiding over a meeting of all administrative secretary committees at the Civil Secretariat.

CM Mahmood said that the provincial government will not tolerate any negligence in public service delivery and directed secretaries to initiate legal action against all officials who were found involved in malpractices. He stated that merit and transparency will be ensured at every cost.

The chief minister also directed that every department should formulate an effective communication strategy to inform the public about the initiatives and projects of the provincial government so that they may be able to benefit from them.

Mahmood also directed the C&W department to undertake pragmatic measures to root out the culture of kickbacks.

The chief minister stated that every department should focus on digitisation of government businesses and routine file work which will help in making the system more efficient.
