Three killed in traffic accidents

Man hit by multiple cars after accidentally running onto highway

KARACHI: At least three people were killed and five others injured in separate traffic accidents across the metropolis on Saturday and Sunday.

A man was killed when he was run over by multiple speeding vehicles near a hotel on Super Highway, near Gadap. Police arrived at the site after being informed about the incident. According to rescue sources, the deceased, identified as 35-year-old Khalid, had come to the hotel with his friends. While having fun with them, he accidentally came running onto the highway, where he was struck by a number of vehicles. None of the drivers stopped after the incident. The family of the deceased has refused to carry out legal proceedings, however.

Meanwhile, one man was killed while three others were injured when two motorcycles collided near Jaman Shah Tomb in Garden. According to eyewitnesses, one of the men died on the spot. The deceased and injured were shifted to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively. According to police, the deceased was identified as 21-year-old Moiz, while the injured were identified as Aleesha, 17, Hasnain, 20, and Sameer, 25.

In a separate traffic accident, a car smashed into two motorcycles near the same location of Jaman Shah Tomb, leaving two people injured. The injured were identified as Mustafa and Hasan. While the Rangers arrived to assist the injured, they were found to be intoxicated and were handed over to Garden Police immediately.

Moreover, a speeding vehicle struck a man near Maymar Morr in Sachal, resulting in his death. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. According to police, the deceased was identified as 75-year-old Muhammad Zareen Khan.
