Anjum Aqeel sent on four-day physical remand
PML-N MNA was presented in court after expiry of 3-day physical remand in NPF land scam case.
ISLAMABAD:
A civil judge in Islamabad handed over Pakistan Muslim League –Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan to the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) for a four-day physical remand on Thursday for his involvement in the Rs6 billion National Police Foundation land scam.
Aqeel was presented in the court after the expiry of his three-day physical remand.
The FIA had requested the court to sentence him to seven days of police custody but the court granted the agency only three days of physical remand.
Aqeel is also under a judicial remand till July 30 under the orders of an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi after he was forcibly freed by as many as 30 men within hours of his arrest in regards to the land scam case.
Earlier, eight people who helped the MNA flee from the police custody last week were sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand. However, three other accused were acquitted by the ATC in Rawalpindi.
