Closure of lithotripsy unit at Civil hospital worries patients
Machinery worth Rs50 million out of order.
SUKKUR:
Lack of funds has led to a temporary closure of the Civil Hospital’s lithotripsy unit for a year, built on a budget of Rs50 million, Express News reported Thursday.
The unit was developed three years back.
The lithotripsy machine requires an electromagnetic coil, which is out of order, due to which the unit has been closed down.
Various patients diagnosed with urological diseases and problems came to the unit for treatment.
Due to the closedown, patients – from Sindh and Punjab – have to go to Karachi for treatment.
The closure has deprived them from easy and less-expensive treatment.
The unit could not be taken proper care of by the hospital administration, whereas, a lot of money was spent in developing the unit.
