PM Imran Khan meets CEO of SAP, stresses upon digitisation of govt initiatives

The country is slowly and gradually making its way towards digitisation and in his latest efforts to strengthen the country's digital landscape, Prime Minister Imran Khan recently launched the ‘Digital Pakistan’ initiative aimed at introducing modern technology for public welfare.

To further this initiative, Prime Minister met with Mr Christian Klein, CEO of System, Applications, and Product (SAP), one of the largest software companies at Davos, on the sidelines of WEF Annual Meeting 2020.
Mr Klein discussed the long and strong association the company has with Pakistan for more than 20 years with the most important project being the digital system of administering salaries and pensions of the Government of Pakistan.
Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Advisor on Finance, Abdul Razaq Dawood, Advisor on Commerce, SAPM Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bokhari, SAPM Dr Moeed Yusuf, Ali Jehangir Siddiqui, Ambassador at Large on Foreign Investment were also present at the meeting.

The prime minister stressed upon the importance of digital applications for governance and the role it can play in responding to citizen’s complaints in a more efficient manner.
Furthermore, PM Imran also extended an offer to Mr Klein to set up software labs in Pakistan and use them for software engineering work for SAP.
PM also met with Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube at Davos, on the sidelines of the WEF Annual Meeting 2020.
Discussions were held on utilising digital platforms for image building of Pakistan, promotion of tourism and attracting investments.
