A police spokesperson said that per the directions of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, the Operations-Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Waqaruddin Syed had directed all officials to accelerate their efforts against anti-social elements and ensure their arrests.
These efforts yielded arrests of some 40 people for their alleged involvement in dacoity and robbery cases. Stolen valuables including gold ornaments, three cars and three bikes were recovered.
Meanwhile, 31 absconders were also held during the same period and 28 suspects were nabbed for their alleged involvement in bootlegging and drug peddling. A total of 2.906 kilogrammes of hashish, 2.855 kilogrammes of heroin, 115 grammes of ice (crystal methamphetamines) and more than 100 wine bottles were also recovered from them.
Police also arrested 28 people for carrying illegal or unlicenced weapons and recovered 23 pistols, two daggers and 109 rounds of ammunition from them.
Around 67 accused, wanted by police for their alleged involvement in criminal cases of various nature, were also held.
Furthermore, challans in 154 cases were filed in the relevant courts after investigations into these cases concluded.
