HYDERABAD:
A family of four died, presumably due to carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a gas heater, in an apartment in Latifabad, Hyderabad, on Thursday.
When the deceased Syed Muhammad Waqas, his wife, 38-year-old Shabana, six-year-old daughter, Vania, and two-year-old son, Mehrab, did not wake up by afternoon, other family members broke into their room and found all but Shabana dead. Shabana was shifted to a private hospital in Latifabad where she also succumbed.
Lahore chokes: air quality second worst in the world
Dr Jamshed of Bhitai Government Hospital said that Waqas and his two children were brought dead to the hospital. Hyderabad SSP Adeel Hussain Chandio also reached the hospital and collected information about the incident from the family members. The bodies were later shifted to Liaquat University Hospital for postmortem.
Police said that an investigation into the incident has been initiated but apparently, the deaths were caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.
