Fashion roundup: The best dressed celebrities of 2019
This year saw stars like Mahira, Naimal and Anam rocking a myriad of looks. We pick who stood out the most!
KARACHI:
2019 was a year of major fashion moments for local celebrities. The neon trend was sported throughout the year, as well as the sari pants, western formal wear, simple yet sophisticated Eid fashion and the epic sari with blazer look sported by none other than Mahira Khan.
Speaking of the actor, Mahira also had a stand-out star-studded week in Paris representing Pakistan as the brand ambassador of L’Oreal. We couldn't get over some of her magnifique outfits as she stepped out of her safe comfort zone. After all, Paris is always the perfect time to be à la mode.
Back in Pakistan, we saw surprising celebrities upping the style quotient and becoming the best dressed at events such as Lux Style Awards. Move over Mahira, because Anam Malik outshone everyone in THAT purple, frilly number.
As for weddings, we saw some of our favourite celebrities tie the knot. Iqra Aziz just married Yasir Hussain over the weekend, but we all know Naimal Khawar took everyone's hearts away with her less-is more stunning look.
Who made it to our cut in each stand-out fashion category? We pick out the stunning looks that enchanted us.
Sonya Hussyn's sari pants look
Saris are all about experimenting with different styles and prints these days. Sari pants made a comeback this year and we are not complaining! While a few celebrities donned the look for the festive season, we could not look past Sonya's bespoke Sania Maskatiya ensemble while in New York. Elegant yet different, the star truly understood how to knock this look out of the ball park.
Mansha Pasha wore the best lengha look
Mansha Pasha and Jibran Nasir held their engagement ceremony last week and we have to say the Laal Kabootar star was a clear winner amongst all the lengha choli looks this year. The blushing bride turned heads in a delicate pink ensemble by Omorose, hitting the pink bridal/formal trend right on the head.
Sarah Khan showed more coverage is more at Hum Style Awards
Local celebrities disappointed us this year at the Hum Style Awards. Big stars, like Iqra Aziz and Hania Amir just didn't make the cut in any way, shape, or form. Luckily, Sarah showed us how to rock a traditional look in an enchanting way. The actor was praised for her cream peshwas ensemble with zardozi work and gold tassels, paired with a pure kimkhwab shawl.
Mahira Khan and the many different ways to rock a sari
Meera jee and Amna Ilyas for best colour-blocking
We are still not over Amna and Meera twinning in their vivacious traditional ensembles for the premiere of Baaji. They certainly looked regal, donning a peshwas each in bright pink and orange.
Meanwhile, a personal favourite is when the starlets looked like an actual summer dream in these gorgeous pastel ensembles. Styled by Anila Murtaza and Ansab Jahangir, the duo looked easy breezy in all our favourite shades; Meera was clad pastel green and lilac, while Amna took the lead in lemon yellow and baby blue.
Mahira Khan's best Paris Fashion Week look
Among Mahira's stunning (and not so stunning) looks for Paris Fashion Week, this chic ensemble really screamed Paris yet classy all at the same time. Embellished matching separates with faux fur details is the way to go, because it’s Paris, darling. We are sure she made Avenue des Champs-Élysées look a little more beautiful.
Anam Malik outshines at Lux Style Awards 2019
Even beating Mahira and Iqra, Anam led the pack for best-dressed at LSA! It was a perfect look that encompassed all the glitz and glamour of the night. The star had us floored in a purple frilled Élan creation and the wet hair look reminded us of Hollywood glamour in all the right ways.
Mahira Khan showed us you CAN mix a sari with a blazer
Blazers were SO on trend this year as were saris. Mahira Khan showed us how to combine the best of both worlds by adding her own personal touch with 'the sari that had her heart.' You may disagree with us, but it was the best unconventional sari look of the year.
Ayesha Omar wins the best matching co-ord look
Bright matching separates were the way to go this year! The diva showed us how it’s done with a gorgeous tangerine set, paired with barely there strappy heels and slicked back hair. Fresh, simple makeup, statement earrings and simple gold stacked rings made for an effortlessly elegant look.
Amna Babar was the most stylish mommy-to-be
If you’re expecting and want some evening wear inspo, look no further than Amna’s classy dress by Sana Safinaz. The short bejewelled drapery added a unique and glamourous touch as contrast to the neutral ivory shade of the gown. She rocked her maternity style and no doubt about it!
Naimal Khawar is the ultimate less-is-more bride
Naimal won everyone's hearts with her simple yet stunning Nikkah look when she married Hmaza Ali Abbasi. She famously re-used her mother's wedding outfit with a few personal adjustments, as well as did her own makeup. So, much, yes!

The best Eid look from the year goes to Ayeza Khan
Ayeza embodied everything Eid fashion should be. Clean, sophisticated and understated. White is an effortlessly classic look and will always be on trend. The star donned a bright white Saba Abbas number with a matching dupatta. We love how she complimented this look with detailed red khussas (also on trend this year) and blush pink flowers in her sleek ponytail.
The most stunning mehndi look is hands down Iman Ali
What more can we say? Traditional, breath-taking, exquisite. The former super model really just blew everyone else's mehndi outfits out the park, point blank.
Sadaf Kanwal has the best daytime festive look
Fresh, breezy and traditional. Sadaf is quite the trendsetter, but we would have to say this is her best look of the year, as well as the perfect daytime festive cut. Not only this, the model rocked the printed sari and green down to a T.
Saba Qamar is everything the power suit look should be
Power suits were having a major moment this year. Among all the crazy colours, Saba knew that classy and neutral is the best way to go for a timeless look. The actor seemed to do no wrong in the fashion world this year. Simple yet elegant, the longer-style blazer fits the star to a tee.
The best red bridal look goes to Iqra Aziz
The Suno Chanda actor donned a bespoke, all-red Nomi Ansari lengha choli for her big day. Although Twitter was quick to point out the lehnga choli seemed not-so-faintly reminiscent of the Sabyasachi number that Priyanka Chopra wore, we still think it was her best look yet and the best classic red bridal look!
