QUETTA: JUI-F leader Maulana Ghafoor Haideri has maintained that the PTI government’s days were numbered as the people were fed up with the “selected” regime.

“Industries are shutting down in the country and the economy is on the verge of collapse. Millions have lost their jobs,” the former Senate deputy chairman said while addressing a party rally in Quetta.

“The year 2020 will bring about the end of this selected government,” he added.

The JUI-F leader said the PTI government had come to power through rigged elections and could not run the country because most members of the federal cabinet were only indulged in making false claims instead of actually delivering to the people.

He added that the Prime Minister Imran Khan had claimed that 2020 would be year of jobs whereas millions had been left unemployed during his tenure.

Haideri urged National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal to stick to his word and take action against members of the ruling party involved in corruption.

“Instead of becoming a tool for the PTI government’s political victimisation, NAB needs to remain neutral,” he added.

The JUI-F leader said Defence Minister Pervez Khattak was facing charges of corruption in mega projects in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa but NAB was unable to take action against ministers.

Separately, PTI Balochistan leader Babar Yousafzai has said his party’s government would complete its five-year tenure unlike the opposition’s claims.

“The people of Pakistan placed their trust in Prime Minister Imran Khan in last general elections but some politicians are unable to digest this honest government,” he added.

“Some opposition leaders are predicting a change of government in 2020 but instead of making such claims, they should wait for five years.”

Yousafzai said Pakistan was surrounded by external and internal threats but the current civilian and military leadership was on the same page to steer the country out of its crises.

“The public-friendly policies of the current government are yielding positive results for people,” he maintained.

The PTI leader said JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was in a great deal of hurry to return to the official residence in Islamabad he occupied earlier. “Instead of deceiving the nation, he [Fazl] should accept his defeat in the last elections.”
