KARACHI: As the federal and provincial governments point fingers over the cause of the gas crisis, uncertainty about Sindh's gas supply persists. The supply to CNG filling stations, which resumed on Friday night for eight hours, remained suspended once again on Saturday.

The Sui Southern Gas Company announced late on Saturday evening that the supply to CNG stations would reopen for 12 hours on Sunday morning. In a meeting with representatives of All Pakistan CNG Dealers Association at the SSGC office on Saturday, the company also announced that it would supply gas to the CNG sector on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, claiming that the increased demand in winter meant that the crisis would continue till the first week of January.

Sindh hits back at Centre in gas crisis blame game

"The situation is pathetic, but the company has assured us of a 12-hour long supply starting at 7am on Sunday (today)," said association leader Abdul Sami Khan, adding that he did not know whether they would receive gas on Monday.

Association president Ghayas Paracha told The Express Tribune that the extensive gas outage had left the CNG sector on the verge of destruction.

Meanwhile, the city's industrialists, speaking to the prime minister during his visit to Karachi on Friday, sought to bring his attention to the gas crisis and asked him to resolve the matter as soon as possible.
