Lal Shahbaz Qalandar: Attach extra coaches to trains, Railways told
An earlier court order directed the organisation to attach additional coaches to trains to transport people,
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Monday gave 24 hours to Pakistan Railways to implement an earlier court order directing the organisation to attach additional coaches to trains to transport people from across the country to Sehwan for Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s urs.
Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed issued the order in a contempt of court petition filed by Jhoolay Lal Council. The council had submitted that the railways had failed to guarantee transport facilities to the devotees in accordance with the court orders.
Justice Saeed said there was no reason for the railways to continue its operations if it could not provide services to passengers. He said railway authorities should be ready for prosecution if court orders were not implemented.
The judge disposed of the petition and directed railways to attach 40 additional coaches to trains to transport passengers for the urs.
JLC president Sheikh Tariq Abbas had submitted in the main petition that railways was not arranging special trains for the urs this year.
The urs celebrations will take place from July 31 to August 2.
