Sonakshi Sinha feels anti-CAA protests more important than Dabangg 3 earnings

In the wake of anti-CAA protests, the Salman-Sonakshi starrer isn't performing so well at the box office

Sonakshi Sinha's latest release, Dabangg 3, doesn't seem to be doing as well at the box office as expected. In the wake of the anti-CAA protests all over India, Sinha has come out to voice her views about her film and the current socio-political situation in India.

Talking to the media at a Christmas event with Angel Xpress Foundation, the actor shared how she feels about the protests erupting all over India and how they've affected the subsequent release of her much awaited film.

“We all know what is going on in the entire country. I think people know that what is more important, but I am honestly happy with audience response to our film," said Sinha, referring to the anti-CAA protests.

She went on to speak about how the situation in India is much more important than a film; "At this moment, entire country has come together on this matter (CAA protests) and it is more important than a film,' she said.

As reported by The Hindustan Times, Dabangg 3 has had a dismal opening as compared to its predecessors, and Sinha feels that the socio-political situation is not the only reason for it.

"I don’t know since how long we are urging the audience not to watch pirated films because it affects our industry in a negative way,” she expressed in the wake of reports of the film getting leaked on the internet.

However, the actor seems to have her priorities in check and isn't fazed by the relatively disappointing response to Dabangg 3. She, infact extended her support to the protestors saying, "I am very proud of the people who have come out and voiced their opinion. I am with them."

Sinha also addressed the fact that a lot of Bollywood stars have avoided commenting on the tense situation, and shared why that may be so.

"When they (celebrities) hit the streets, then the entire focus shifts on them. We know media cameras start following them, and because of that other people might feel ignored," she opined, hinting that a lot of celebs may actually feel restricted out of the fear of diverting attention towards them.

The Prabhudeva directorial hit the theatres on December 20.
