Nominated Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court Justice Mamoon Rasheed Sheikh showed resentment over the absence of LDA representatives during the court hearing.
He questioned the authorities over lack of trees alongside the roads in the city particularly those leading to the airport.
“Couldn’t the trees be planted in front of the houses?” he asked.
The court also inquired what the authorities did to ensure compliance from October 16 onwards.
“It has been over a year that the smog commission has been made, so far, they are simply complaining that they do not have funds or resources,” Justice Sheikh retorted.
“The Punjab Government was sleeping. Wake up in the smog case.”
The court adjourned the hearing till December 10 at 10 am.
Schoolchildren have also filed a petition against smog.
