KARACHI: Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah has said that Sindh is rich in natural resources and being public servants, bureaucrats should ensure its development and prosperity in the larger national interest.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of the Secretaries Committee in the Sindh Secretariat on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Planning and Development Chairperson Naheed Shah Durrani, Senior Member of the Board of Revenue Qazi Shahid Pervez, Information Secretary Abdul Rasheed Solangi and all other secretaries and divisional commissioners.
The meeting reviewed 24 items on its agenda, which included the progress on disciplinary action against officials, proceedings of anti-corruption cases, development work, performance of officers, position of DPCs (Departmental Promotion Committees), unauthorised use of official vehicles, employment and recruitment on disabled and deceased quota, implementation of court orders as well as the prime minister's and chief minister's directives and the tree plantation campaign.
The CS directed all administrative secretaries to send details of cadre officers for the digitisation of their service records within 15 days.
He also stressed that all efforts must be made to strengthen the service delivery system with the zeal of good governance.

He maintained that all secretaries and commissioners should evolve a mechanism to complete the desired tasks successfully and on time. He pointed out that cleanliness must be streamlined in hospitals, schools, colleges and offices to maintain a hygienic environment.
CS Shah directed all secretaries to issue advertisements of vacancies against the disabled quota. He also directed the secretaries to file their comments in courts and attend the meetings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
During the meeting, the chief secretary directed that the pending cases regarding the regularisation of employees working on ad hoc or contract basis be disposed of in accordance with the law. "All the secretaries and officers concerned working in subordinate offices should conduct DPCs on time to ensure the rights of employees," said CS Shah.
Expressing displeasure over government vehicles being used by unauthorised persons, the CS directed all the departments to update their records and share the same with the Anti-Car Lifting Cell so that action may be taken as per the decision of the provincial cabinet. "The legal process shall be followed in order to retrieve the stolen vehicles," he added. During the meeting, several administrative secretaries informed the CS about the non-availability of office space. On this, the CS sought the progress report regarding the Sindh Secretariat Complex within 3 days.
