KARACHI:

Like the rest of the country, the Christian community in Karachi celebrated Easter on Sunday with religious fervour and devotion, marking the end of the 40-day period of fasting.

Special prayers were held across the city, with members of the community donning colorful attire and attending services at various churches, including St Patrick's, Holy Trinity, and Central Brooks Memorial. The gatherings saw large participation from men, women, and children.

During the ceremonies, prayers were offered for the country's peace, security, and prosperity, while messages of love, tolerance, and brotherhood were highlighted. Following the services, community members exchanged hugs and Easter greetings. Families also celebrated at home with special meals and gatherings after attending church services.

Christian religious leaders said Easter is the most significant festival for Christians, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

They added that the festival, also known as Pascha or the Feast of the Resurrection of Christ, comes at the end of a 40-day fasting period considered a time of spiritual reflection and devotion.
