Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Spokesperson Narasimha Rao hit out at Congress parliamentarian Rahul Gandhi on Saturday, saying a more appropriate name for the scion of the Nehru-Gandhi political dynasty is "Rahul Jinnah."

According to NDTV, Rao's comment comes after Gandhi's "Savarkar" jibe at the BJP.

While addressing the Congress' "Bharat Bachao Rally" at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, the Congress Party leader rejected the India's ruling party's demand for an apology for his "Rape in India" barb at the the government.

The parliamentarian said his name is Rahul Gandhi and not "Rahul Savarkar", and that he will never apologise for speaking the truth.

Rao went on to say that Gandhi's "Muslim appeasement" politics makes him worthy of Pakistan's founder.

'From make in India, country heading to rape in India'

"The more appropriate name for you Rahul Gandhi is Rahul Jinnah. Your Muslim appeasement politics and mindset makes you a worthy legatee of Mohammad Ali Jinnah, not Savarkar," the BJP spokesperson added.

Another BJP spokesperson, Sambit Patra, said Gandhi can never be "Rahul Savarkar".

"Savarkar stood for patriotism, bravery and sacrifice while the Congress leader is the polar opposite," Patra said.

Amit Malviya, the BJP information technology cell head, tweeted that the former Congress president was right that he can never be "Rahul Savarkar".
