Rain leaves Quetta in a shambles

Citizens face difficulties due to accumulation of water

QUETTA: All claims of proper sanitation, including drainage system in the city proved false after the recent rains that hit Quetta yesterday.

Drain water surrounded all residential and business centres of the city due to which the citizens have been facing immense difficulties in commuting.

The drains of Jinnah Road, Prince Road, Kowari Road, Jan Mohammad Road and Gawalmandi Chowk were choked after the rains while slum areas of the city were also infested with filth and bad odour from sewage water.

Public circles and shopkeepers have demanded of the Metropolitan Corporation to play a role in the city’s overall cleanliness after the downpours.

After last night’s rains, power outages also started to badly trouble the citizens. The citizens lamented that they already face frequent power shortages and shutdowns in routine however, the problem of load shedding has become worse after the rains.

The promises made by the authorities concerned have proven to be false as power outages have become a regular feature, said the citizens. The residents expressing concern on the matter complain that they are being fooled in the name of load shedding which spans six hours.

Due to load shedding, rented shops are not able to pay back their landlords in time while the business is also already suffering.

The citizens lamented that they are left helpless and without support from the authorities. Even residential consumers are not able to perform their daily chores due to constant load shedding.

The women in particular are at a discomfort as they are not able to perform their daily tasks.
