"Before any such war, we will have to create unity among our ranks ... we will have to fully understand enemy's strategy while strengthening Pakistan in terms of economy and defence to win the war," he said while addressing a conference held in Muzaffarabad under the auspices of Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).
Masood reiterates New Delhi's August 5 move was an attack not only on IOK but on AJK and Pakistan.
The AJK president rejected the impression that nothing had been done on the issue after August 5 . Pakistan has raised Kashmiris' case at all relevant fora including US Congress, UN Human Rights Council, parliaments of UK, Europe and France and by the governments of Malaysia, China, Iran and Turkey, he added.
While describing AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) as Pakistan’s defence rampart, President Masood said that the people of these regions have never let the enemy cross this defence line.
“Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are important for Pakistan not only in terms of defence but also because of their natural resources and being part of CPEC — which have now become Pakistan's economic lifeline," he said.
"Thousands of officers and troops belonging to AJK are serving Pakistan Army while defending every inch of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir," he added.
AJK president urges action rather than statements to help Kashmiris
Speaking on the occasion, Kashmir Committee Chairman Syed Fakhar Imam said that the future of both Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir is interlinked, and the government, people and the armed forces of Pakistan fully realise the plight of Kashmiris.
He regretted that the United Nations — which was founded with the basic objective of saving weak nations from the repression of powerful countries — has failed to stop powerful from perpetrating repression and could not rescue the oppressed Kashmiri people.
He maintained that incumbent government of Pakistan is determined to ensure freedom of Kashmiri people by protecting their rights as Prime Minister Imran Khan mentioned in his speech at the UN General Assembly.
Former Azad Kashmir premier Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan said that "Kashmir to become part of Pakistan" was not just a slogan but an ideology and a goal that guarantees safe future of this region. He said that the hearts of Kashmiris beat with the hearts of their Pakistani brethren and Indian repressive tricks cannot deter the Kashmiris from their desired goal.
PICSS Chairman Maj Gen (retd) Saad Khattak said that no power on earth can break the bonds between people of Pakistan and Kashmir. Those who view that the Kashmir dispute has ended after New Delhi’s move on August 5, have a clear misconception.
"Martyrdom of Pakistan Army personnel on Kashmir front is an irrefutable proof of the love and commitment of Kashmiris with Pakistan,” he said.
Among others, All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Abdullah Gilani, head of Kashmir Institute of International Relations Altaf Andrabi and Dr Mujahid Gilani also addressed the conference.
