KARACHI: A man passed away due to the alleged negligence of staff at a private hospital at Five Star Chowrangi on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as 22-year-old Shahvez Ahmed Khan, son of Shahmir Ahmed Khan, was brought to the hospital on Saturday morning due to a chest infection. The family claimed that the hospital administration had admitted Shahvez in the Intensive Care Unit without their consent and later put him on ventilator and informed them after a while that he has passed away.

The family held the hospital's staff responsible for Shahvez's death and started protesting and broke the glass of the hospital's windows and doors.

Police arrived at the site after receiving the complaint and convinced the family to negotiate with the hospital's administration.

The hospital administration, as a result, gave in writing to the family that Shahvez's death was the outcome of doctors' negligence. The family then took the body for burial, while the case will be registered later.
