KARACHI: The employees of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) staged a protest outside Sindh governor's house on Saturday, despite the volatile security situation in Karachi.

The protesting utility workers entered their 77th day against the possible downsizing of 4,500 workers demanding that their duties be assigned to them and they are taken out of the surplus pool.

The sit-in began at 5pm on Friday outside the Governor House, where contingents of police were called in to ensure peace during the protest.

A delegation of KESC trade union met with the acting Sindh Governor Nisar Khoro and presented their demands, but a solution could not be reached and the protest continues despite assurances by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Taj Haider.
