KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information, Archives and Labour Saeed Ghani has said that if the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had signed a deal with anyone, then its leaders would not have suffered so much.

The provincial minister, while addressing a press conference on Monday, clarified that the news regarding any kind of deal between PPP and the federal government is baseless.

Ghani stated that although PPP leaders, Agha Siraj Durrani, Faryal Talpur and Syed Khursheed Shah, are under arrest, they are not facing any trial. "It was surprising that the alleged crime or corruption took place in Karachi but the cases are being heard outside the province," he said. "If the government does not trust the honorable chief justice and the honorable judges, then why did it not replace them instead of transferring the cases?" he asked.

The provincial minister added that neither the sanctity of the Constitution is being maintained nor are the rights of PPP leaders being taken care of.

Ghani said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has parted ways with his team and has brought Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf's team to the fore. "Farogh Naseem, who was the lawyer of Musharraf, is the law minister of Imran Khan," he said. "This is the reason why the government has now filed an application in court to stop the case against him."

He further mentioned that he received news through social media that billions of dollars have been recovered during a raid at his home, which he reported to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
