The rating of Lahore as a safe city has further improved on the World Crime Index

LAHORE: The rating of Lahore as a safe city has further improved on the World Crime Index.

The index was established by an organisation named “Numbeo”. Few months ago, Lahore was ranked 174th on the list. According to the most recent rating, it has dropped 53 notches to 228.

In the latest Crime Index by Numbeo, Venezuela's city of Caracas is ranked first with a crime rate of 84.83, while Abu Dhabi is declared the safest city in the world with a crime rate of just 11. Lahore was ranked 138th in the 'Numbeo Crime Index' in 2018. In this regard, Lahore has improved by 90 places in the last one year. In the World Crime Index, Lahore was declared safer than Dhaka, Kuala Lumpur, Delhi, Birmingham, Washington, Las Vegas, Manchester, Tehran, Rome, San Francisco, London, Istanbul, Mumbai, Beijing and Jerusalem.

According to the survey, the crime rate in Lahore was 42.at in the start of 2019 and 46.90 in 2018.

In 2014, Lahore was in 74th place and Karachi was 6th. In mid-2019, Lahore’s position improved to 202 and Karachi’s to 71.

Fast forward to 2019, Lahore improved to 174th position and Karachi was 61st. And in mid-2019, Lahore was ranked 202nd and Karachi 71st.
