Elite force personnel martyred in encounter with DG Khan’s Ladi gang

Two criminals and a passerby were also killed in the clash

DERA GHAZI KHAN: An official of the Punjab Police’s Elite Force was martyred in a clash with members of notorious Ladi gang, which operates within the limits of Kot Mubarak police station, on Sunday.

Two dacoits were killed in the counter attack while a passerby, who was injured in the crossfire, succumbed to his wounds later.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Imran Ahmer told The Express Tribune that suspects opened indiscriminate firing on the police team when they were followed on a tipoff.

Four policemen injured in encounter

Suleman, an officer of the Elite Force, died on the spot while Constable Imran sustained bullet wounds, he said, adding that two “absconders” were killed in the counter strike and a passerby also injured in the process.

DPO Asad Sarfraz arrived at the spot with a heavy contingent of police as the encounter continued till the filing of the report.

Injured and the body were shifted to the Teaching Hospital.

The police had conducted a number of operations in the area earlier but failed to arrest members of Ladi gang. On the contrary, the policemen suffered injuries.

There was an imminent wave of fear among the residents and they had demanded of the Punjab IG, RPO and DPO to take effective measures to deal with the criminals.
