@Malik; I gather you are from India and still hold a lot of grudge from Pakistan and its very existance. Just to let you know, Pakistan, about some 30 years ago, was very prosperous due to its high educational standards internationally, and produced many great professionals. May be its time to bring back the same type of military rule, back when every one had great opportunities especially in education and patriotically worked together and proudly aspired for higher education and put its enemies to shame. One cannot let negative thinking take over but has to look for positive solutions in honor of the founding fathers. Thats what every Pakistani should do, and that will keep the enemy away who is looking to exploit Pakistan's weaknesses.
@Nazir Habib: For your info, all the fight against British people was done by Hindu Congress, and not a single Muslim (from Jinnah's party) ever went to jail fighting the British. Not a single one.
@Changaizi:
Yes, I too agree with Kasim, his grandparents and mine did a himalayan blunder by falling for the rhetoric of a power-hungry man who could not convince his own close followers on what his values were. We have to pay for this decision dearly.
Reg, education, will you please specify which education? The education as given in our madrasas? The education as per our textbooks? or you are telling Kasim to go to US or Canada to get a proper education which does not centre around Ummah? As far as I know, Faisal Shahzad, the failed bomber, was educated too.
Pak was conceived out of hatred and nurtured on a steady diet of hatred. Now, there is a miasma of hatred enveloping the whole of Pakistan. Did you notice now in the present Pakistan everyone hates everyone?
Balochistan hates the rest of Pakistan; non-mohajir hates mohajirs; fair-looking Pakistanis hate dark-looking Pakistanis; Army hates civilians; bearded guys hate clean-shaven guys and vice versa; punjabi guys hate non-punjabi guys; urban city slickers in jeans hate rural yokels with pyjamas; the guy who is an expert in hadeeth hates everyone who has not studied the same; we all hate US and India; The True Muslim hates the non-True Muslim... the list goes on.
What kind of people (even though they dont fall in the category of people) are ruling over us?? People are dying of hunger, Our economy is kissing dirt, Corrupt politicians are chewing the remains of this country, then this Terrorism..don't we have enough entertainment to start a new racial war? May Allah guide us..Ameen
@Adnan:
yes if someone called me a bhooka nanga my first reaction would also be to go to their house (or even any random persons house will do) destroy the property, burn some cars and finally shoot a few people to get over my anger. Then i would demand that the person leaves the city. Sounds reasonable right?
@hammad: Dear brother!!! You have my support and brotherhood. If it was not for our victorious fight against the British colonialists, this place would still be a 'hinterland' and devoid of all progressive and educated people. People like Zulfiqar Mirza would still be bowing and touching the feet of Hindu landlords and living on their handouts. Salams to all peoples of our beloved Pakistan.
This shows that these two gentlemen "Overstayed" in Karachi and next time they need Visas to enter Karachi. Is MCC offshoot of MQM or is it saying all this on someone's behest.
I am no racist but mocking someones roots is not really the way of expressing gratitude to others. And just to correct the so called righteous politician [Mr. Zulfiqar mirza] who thinks he knows it all, sindh was not a province before 1935. It was infact a part of bombay.
@Kasim; Your forefathers did just fine, it is this uneducated new generation and its leadership that is drowning this country of great sacrifices. Also your forefathers knew that military rule was needed, but the new generation of leaders were too much in a hurry to grab power for themselves without any regard that country needed more time to be educated and stand on its feet and be able to make the right rational decisions. Education, my friend will lift this country and thats the only way to prosperity and dignity. Please do not blame your forefathers, just stand up for education. Go for the leadership that will put education as top most prioroty. Thats exactly what your forefathers wanted for your security and prosperity. So, lets honor the wisdom of your forefathers and follow their footsteps!! Cheers!
Karachi is a very important economic hub and people who can contribute productively are very welcome! It was a lot of hardwork of the business community and its leaders who built this city in a booming economy for Pakistan. All the ethnic groups please take a deep breath, be patriotic and relax, you are all Pakistanis and need each other!
I believe my forefathers have taken Wrong decision in 1947 to move to newly formed country exclusively for Muslims. Now we cannot go back to our native land which is part of India. This is our country, otherwise all of us shall go to Arabian sea and fell in it. Khudha Hafiz.
Just do it !!! It is high time .
This statement shows the true face of MQM
WTH is going on here. Now these thugs decide who lives in this city and who doesn't. Come on Mr. Kayani, allow the Army to teach these people some lesson.
Living in the country as a citizen is a right, living in a city is a privilege. In order to live in close proximity to other people within a city one must behave in a responsible manner. His actions were not responsible and we can see the outcome. Freedom of speech is a right but yelling Fire in a crowded cinema when there is none is a crime especially if it causes a stampede.
@BADurrani
Damn right they can. If a person incites hatred and a majority of the city wants that person out, they can make him/her leave. No one in Karachi likes Zulfikar Mirza.
MQM should show tolerance in politics, MQM should quit this extremist attitude and intolerant behavour, so that it may not be percieved as terrorist organization.
Inciting violence, threatening public disobedience, overtly destroying public and private property such as the car pictured above are illegal, whether the perpetrators be from the MQM, ANP, PPP or any other party. Leaders, activists and even randoms just joining the mayhem should be arrested and prosecuted under the MPO or antiterrorism act, if not just shot. Enough of this rubbish. We don't care who can shout loudest amongst the political elite; give us our city back!
@BADurrani: Wait and watch it get done :)
What has Shahi got to do with Mirza's statement? The ANP has condemned Mirza's statement.
Last i checked this Karachi is still in Pakistan and no one can make a Pakistani citizen leave Karachi!
