Balochistan CS orders action against hemp, poppy cultivators

CS ordered prompt action to identify the crops and demolish them within 15 days

Balochistan Chief Secretary Captain (retd) Fazeel Asghar has directed deputy commissioners of all districts to demolish crops of hemp and poppy in collaboration with Anti-Narcotics Force.

The decision was taken in response to the initiative of cultivation in some districts of the province. The CS ordered prompt action to identify the crops and demolish them within 15 days.


Briefing on hazardous effects of drugs, Asghar said, “The government does not permit the cultivation of crops used in making drugs as youth consume them affecting their capabilities.”

Extending the operation, the Chief Secretary directed the DCs to identify drug-making factories processing hemp and poppy in their districts, collect the information, share it with Chief Secretary’s office and Anti-Narcotics Force.“Drug-making factories should be searched and demolished immediately,” said the CS.
