Acting VC vows justice in UoB video scandal case

Says strict action would be taken against culprits after submission of FIA’s report on Oct 29

QUETTA: Acting vice-chancellor of the University of Balochistan Muhammad Anwer Panezai has suspended four varsity employees over their alleged involvement in harassing and blackmailing female students.

The vice-chancellor urged the students’ organisations to end their protests and focus on their educational activities.

He said that strict action would be taken against the culprits after the submission of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA’s) report on October 29.

Panezai suspended assistant security officer Saifullah, security in charge for surveillance branch Naeem, personal secretary to former vice-chancellor Yahya Domki and transport officer Sharif Shahwani over their alleged involvement in one of biggest video scandals in the University of Balochistan.

“The security and monitoring of cameras inside the university have been disconnected. We would ensure the provision of a secure environment at the varsity,” he said.

The video scandal sparked a series of protests and outrage in the province following sexual harassment and blackmailing at the University of Balochistan as political parties and student organisations have been demanding strict action against the criminals.
