OGDCL discovers oil, gas reserves in Kohat district
Company says findings are a result of aggressive exploration strategy
ISLAMABAD:
The Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) has discovered oil and gas reserves at its condensate at Togh well-I in Kohat district in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The well was drilled and tested using OGDCL's in-house expertise in consultation with Kohat joint venture partners; Mari Petroleum and Saif Energy.
The well was drilled down to the depth of 3,200 meters, an OGDCL press release stated on Tuesday.
According to a preliminary test, the well has the potential to produce 50 barrel per day (bpd) of condensate through 32/64 choke at wellhead flowing press of 760-823 pounds per square inch (psi) and 4.1 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) gas.
OGDCL said that the discovery of the well was the result of aggressive exploration strategy adopted by the company which opened a new avenue in K-P area and would add to the country's hydrocarbon reserves base.
The joint venture of Kohat EL comprises of OGDCL with 50% share, Mari Petroleum with 33.33% share and Saif Energy Limited with 16.67% share.
Last month, OGDCL discovered oil and gas reserves at its Chanda Well-05 in K-P's Kohat district.
According to a preliminary test, the well had the potential to produce 76 bpd of crude oil and 0.512 mmscfd gas.
"This is the first discovery of crude oil and gas from Wargal Formation in Chanda Oil Field," an OGDCL statement said earlier.
