Police bust two gangs of auto thieves

Claim suspects confessed to stealing vehicles in Islamabad, Punjab

RAWALPINDI/ ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) of the Islamabad Police on Monday claimed to have busted two inter-provincial gangs of vehicle and bike lifters while five vehicles and seven bikes worth millions of rupees were recovered from their possession, a police spokesperson said.

Following the directions of IGP Islamabad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, Operations-DIG Waqaruddin Syed tasked Investigation-SP Dr Syed Mustafa Tanveer to accelerate efforts against car-lifters.

Subsequently, a special team was set up under the supervision of ACLC Incharge Sub- Inspector Liaqat Ali. This team apprehended four members of two inter-provincial gangs of car and bike lifters.

The suspect was identified as Mardan residents Munir Khan and Saidul Islam. The bike lifters were identified as Mandi Bahauddin residents Azeem Abbas and Atif Adeel.

Police to establish health centres, counters for public

Efforts are underway to arrest their accomplices.

The police spokesperson said that during preliminary investigations, they confessed their part in stealing vehicles from various areas of Islamabad and Punjab. The recovered vehicles bear the registration numbers as follows: Suzuki Mehran (LEC-8961), Suzuki Mehran (ACQ-987), Suzuki Mehran (MNA-2447),Toyota Altis (DB-389) and Toyota Vitz (AYC-532) and 07 Motorbikes Honda 125(ACM-514), Honda 125 (RCO- 6167) Honda CD-70 (AKN-420), Honda CD-70(AQL-482), Honda 125 (MBK-4884), Honda CD-70 (GTN-845) and Honda 125 (F-5553).

Twins gang boss arrested

Rawalpindi police have arrested the suspected ringleader of the ‘Jurwan Gang’ or the Twins Gang - which looted drugstores disguised as medical representatives of pharmaceutical companies.

CPO Faisal Rana has directed to arrest other members of the gang at the earliest. During a briefing to the CPO, Potohar SP Syed Ali said that the Naseerabad police has successfully arrested the ringleader of the gang which targeted medical stores with high sales in the city.

The alleged robbers would walk into high-end drugstores impersonating medical reps from different companies. SP Ali added that the suspects looted a medical store within the remits of the Naseerabad police station.

Police officials ordered to clear utility dues

Upon receiving information, a nearby police mobile rushed to the site. They found a suspicious man loitering who claimed he was a medical rep.

However, police detained the suspect, identified as Shahab. Upon questioning and further probe into his mobile data, it was discovered that he was the boss of the ‘Jurwan Gang’. The police arrested the suspect, but  his brother, Ishaq, fled.

During interrogation, Shahab allegedly disclosed that he and his twin brother Ishaq were previously involved in street crimes but they shifted to looting shops by impersonating medical representatives and later formed a gang by including others.
