Contempt: Education secy asked to explain

They had filed a contempt petition and sought proceedings against the education secretary for defying court orders.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Monday summoned the education secretary in a contempt petition filed by 35 subject specialists. The petitioners submitted that they had been serving in grade 17 since 1998 but their services were not regularised. They said a writ petition was filed in the High Court and the court had directed the respondent department to regularise them within three days, but the order had not been complied with. They had filed a contempt petition and sought proceedings against the education secretary for defying court orders. The judge directed the secretary to appear in person on July 13 and explain his position.
