ISLAMABAD:
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday once again reiterated his resolve not to offer any deal to opposition leaders facing graft cases and said the process of accountability would continue.

“Any attempt to blackmail the government won’t be tolerated. The people creating hurdles to the process of accountability would face disappointment,” Imran Khan was quoted as saying by the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) leader Babar Awan.

Babar was talking to media after a meeting with the premier in which, according to him, they discussed the current political situation, some legal matters, the ongoing process of accountability and the government’s reform agenda.

“The PM said the government would continue to work round the clock to improve the country’s economic conditions. The government has set the right direction for improving the economic situation of the country,” Babar said.

He said the rulers in the last 50 years did not make serious efforts for the country’s progress.

“The prime minister struggled against the mafia which ruled the country for fifty years. The ongoing accountability is a success of the government,” he said.

According to Babar, the prime minister showed concern over the continuous lockdown in the occupied Kashmir and said a political and diplomatic struggle for Kashmiris would continue.

Renowned religious scholar Allama Shahansha Hussain Naqvi also called on PM Imran Khan and praised his ‘prudent’ policies for the supremacy of the Constitution, maintenance of law and order and his efforts to highlight the Kashmir issue globally.

Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi and Special Assistant to PM Zulfi Bukhari also attended the moot.

Naqvi appreciated the PM for true representation of the Muslim world at the United Nations and highlighting the issues of growing Islamophobia and the atrocities, being faced by the Muslims across the world, said a PM Office statement.

He said the way the prime minister substantively advocated the Kashmir cause and exposed the Indian oppression against Muslims in the occupied territory, was unprecedented during the last seven decades. He also praised the PM’s efforts to ensure the supremacy of the Constitution.

They also discussed the crucial issue of the missing persons and family laws as well as the enforcement of Article 227 which says the country's laws should conform to the Holy Quran and Sunnah.

The scholar also lauded the prime minister’s efforts for maintenance of the law and order and freedom of expression. He also presented to the prime minister a prayer taught by Imam Ali Raza (AS).
