KARACHI:
Sindh Minister for Information & Archives and Labour Saeed Ghani has said that it was one of the Sindh government’s sincere aims to expand the scope of social security. He said that said that the circle of social security, which comprised 650,000 workers so far, would be expanded to 2.5million labourers after universalisation. “This way, we will ensure the provision of education, health, housing and other basic facilities to the maximum number of labourers and workers working in the province,” he said. Ghani made these remarks during a meeting with the International Labour Organisation’s Country Director Ingrid Christensen, who called on him at his office on Thursday. The minister briefed ILO country director about the measures being adopted by the Labor Department for the universalisation of social security in the province, while seeking the ILO’s assistance in this regard. The meeting discussed the problems being faced by the workers and labourers as well as the facilities being provided to them.
