Federal government to also announce compensation package for loss of property

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has advised the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to pay Rs500,000 each to families of earthquake victims.

According to the NDMA spokesperson, the federal government will also announce a compensation package for loss of property as well as financial support for the people injured or disabled as a result of the devastating tremor after correct ascertainment of the losses.

As per the spokesperson, PM Imran contacted NDMC Chairman Lt Gen Muhammad Afzal and directed him to ensure immediate support for quake victims.

The NDMA chairman briefed the prime minister about the damage caused due to the earthquake.

The PM expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious human lives and damage to property and advised the chairman to make use of all possible resources at disposal to ensure relief for the victims.

As per the PM’s instructions, families of earthquake victims will be compensated with Rs500,000 each while package for injured and property losses will be announced after NDMA releases its final assessment of the losses.

The spokesperson said the NDMA chairman announced that Pakistan would celebrate this year’s National Resilience Day on October 8 with the victims of the Mirpur quake.
