Understanding your body is the key to looking good and a trait found amongst all impeccably dressed fashionistas. While people shy away from talking about their bodies, these brave souls explain how they work their anatomies to their advantage
How would you describe your body type?
I’m 5’3, petite, quite narrow but curvy at the bottom.
Has your body type changed over the last five years?
I don’t think it has changed much. I do however lose and gain a few pounds now and then. With my height and body structure I can’t afford to gain too much weight.
How has your style changed over the years?
I used to love experimenting with different silhouettes and was all about trying out new things but now I’m more laid back I’d say. I now mostly reach for pieces that are more practical and comfortable.
In your opinion what is your most troublesome area?
My lower body.
How do you dress according to your body type?
I prefer high-waisted trousers, jeans or skirts. I like to accentuate my waist line and de-emphasise my lower body to create a balanced, hourglass appearance. Since I’m not very tall, I wear heels to add a few extra inches to my height.
In your opinion what is the biggest mistake a person can make while dressing up?
Not letting your style evolve as you grow. Clothes that looked great on you 15 years ago may not look as good anymore.
Which silhouettes suit your body the most?
High-rise tube jeans and pencil skirts.
Is there an item you shy away from?
Shorts and miniskirts.
