Emergency declared in hospitals

ISLAMABAD: Emergency has been declared in all hospitals of Islamabad for receiving people injured in Azad Jammu and Kashmir due to earthquake on Tuesday.

The health ministry has asked administrations of Pims, Polyclinic, Federal General Hospital, and CDA Hospital to keep doctors, paramedics ready for handling situation arising in the aftermath of the 5.8 tremor that has left over 100 people injured in AJK.

The hospitals have been told by the government to keep medicines and blood readily available for the injured people.

The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) carried out on ground survey of the city to check if there tremors had caused any damage to buildings and infrastructure, said Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat on Tuesday.

All assistant commissioners were asked to ensure proper surveillance in their respective areas and report damages or causalities if any.

Meanwhile, CDA building control department was also asked to check all the public sector buildings and gather information regarding the incident. Till late in the evening, no damage of life or property was reported in the capital.
