PESHAWAR:
The government on Wednesday directed to accelerate the disbursement of interest-free loans amongst youngsters of the newly-merged tribal districts under the provincial government’s flagship Insaf Rozgar Scheme.

This was directed by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Wednesday as he presided over a meeting regarding the scheme at the Chief Minister Secretariat in Peshawar.

“The scheme is intended to provide livelihood opportunities to the youth of the newly-merged districts by enabling them to initiate their own business,” Mahmood stated.

The meeting was briefed about the progress made by the scheme so far.

Highlighting the importance of the scheme, CM Mahmood stressed on the need to speed up disbursement of loans so that as many youngsters from the erstwhile federally administered tribal areas (Fata) can benefit from the scheme in the shortest possible time.

The CM pointed out that the economic situation of these newly-merged tribal districts was quite unstable owing to years of militancy and the absence of basic infrastructure. He further maintained that the purpose of launching this scheme should be achieved at any cost.

Mahmood said that speedy development and prosperity of the merged tribal district is a priority for his administration.

To ensure judicious distribution and utilization of funds, he said that they were ensuring transparency at every step of the process.

Those who attended the meeting included K-P Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra, Advisor to the CM on Merged Districts Ajmal Wazir, Principal Secretary to CM Shahab Ali Shah, Head of Strategic Support Unit Sahibzada Saeed, Bank of Khyber (BoK) Managing Director and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
