Our self-proclaimed demagogues

Letter June 11, 2010

ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to your editorial of June 11 titled ‘Our self-proclaimed demagogues’. We have always been exploited in the name of religion. The religious political parties that exist today are against the very wishes of our Quaid; he never wanted theocracy in this country. One of the most well-known religious parties in Pakistan, at the time of creation, was against the existence of this state and called the Quaid as “Kafir-e-Azam” and now it claims to be the guardian of everyone else’s faith.

There is another incident that clearly reveals their true nature. The anthem that was approved by the Quaid was actually written by a Pakistani Hindu; these bigots couldn’t bear it and right after his death, they constituted a committee and it took them two years to approve the anthem that we now recite every day. That clearly shows that the seeds of hate were sown right after the death of the Quaid.
