Police arrest prisoner for raping cellmate

The victim stayed silent for over a month for his safety

RAWALPINDI: The police have registered a case against a prisoner who raped an inmate two times in Adyala Jail.

The victim had informed a Rawalpindi district and sessions judge about the incident during his visit.

The suspect, Sajjad, had been arrested by Saddar Police. According to police, the suspect raped a 20-year old inmate in Barrack 3 when Wah Cantt Police arrested him on judicial remand in a kidnapping case.

The victim stayed silent for over a month for his safety. He stated that the last time the nefarious activity was committed was around 45 days earlier.

Police to establish health centres, counters for public

Punjab Prisons IG Shahid Salim Baig suspended 17 jail officials including Central Tower in-charge Chief Warder Muhammad Hussain, Central Tower, Head Warden Khalid Pervaiz, Barrack 1 in-charge Ameer Khan and Control Tower in-charge Noshair Khan. A disciplinary action has also been initiated against the suspended officials.
