the new government has to take charge immediately at the expiry of the outgoing regime’s term

ISLAMABAD:
President Asif Ali Zardari has called a meeting of Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter of the Pakistan Peoples Party today (Friday) to discuss the future course of action after his party won the elections in the region. Elections in some constituencies and on reserved seats are pending, but under the Azad Jammu and Kashmir interim constitution, the new government has to take charge immediately at the expiry of the outgoing regime’s term. An election panel formed by President Zardari has completed interviews for the reserved seats and Zardari, being co-chairman of the party, will now take a decision on whom to give the seats to.  There were reports that the president might call the meeting of the central executive committee of the party immediately after his return to Pakistan. The presidency will hold the Chehlum of the president’s father Hakim Ali Zardari after Friday prayers.
