A prisoner in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was granted special permission to accompany his children to school on the first day of academic year, Khaleej times reported on Sunday.
In a video released by the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Police, the father dressed in a traditional Arab kandoora and headgear is seen accompanying his family however his face is blurred in the clip.
He is not surrounded by any policemen as he spends quality time with his family.
Police’s children to get free education
"The initiative was possible with the help of the electronic tracking bracelet, which helps us keep an eye on him and track his whereabouts," said Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, General Commander of the RAK Police.
The video begins with a monochromatic shot of a policeman escorting him out of the correctional facility. He is made to wear a GPS tracking bracelet before he steps out of the prison. He is then seen dressing his children for school, following which, the video ends with a closing shot of the family holding hands together.
The video did not reveal any other details about the prisoner or the nature of the crime for which was convicted in jail. "The move is in line with the policy of the UAE Ministry of Interior to promote and guarantee family and community cohesion."
The children were happy to see their father and paid tribute to the RAK Police. "It was amazing to see, touch, hug and feel my father on the first day of school," one of the children said.
