Indian envoy summoned over unprovoked ceasefire violations
Three-year-old girl among two civilians were martyred along LoC on Tuesday
Indian Deputy High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia was summoned at the Foreign Office on Wednesday to denounce unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indian troops along the Line of Control (LoC).
Two innocent civilians, Abdul Jalil, 45, and three-year-old Nausheen, were martyred and three others sustained serious injuries from Indian firing in Nekrun Sector of the de-facto border on Tuesday.
Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement, investigate the violations and instruct the forces to respect ceasefire in letter and spirit, said a Foreign Office statement.

He urged that the Indian side should permit UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.
Indian occupation forces along the LoC and Working Boundary have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with artillery fire, heavy-caliber mortars and automatic weapons, which still continues. This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from 2017 when India committed 1970 ceasefire violations.
“The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws. The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation,” the communique added.
Ceasefire violations witnessed a fresh surge after New Delhi revoked the special status of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir earlier this month, escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed states.
