LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal chaired a meeting of the price control committee. The prices of essential commodities and the performance of price control magistrates were reviewed in the meeting held at the Chief Minister's Office on Thursday
The price control committee expressed its serious concerns over the artificial hike in the prices of sugar and decided to initiate a crackdown on hoarders, illegal profiteers and those involved in creating an artificial price hike.
The minister said that those found involved in exploiting the poor people should be sent behind bars. Implementation of laws would have to be ensured by visiting the field without wasting time. He said that those found involved in inflation and hoarding would be dealt with an iron hand.
The minister said that price control magistrates, officers of market committees and departments concerned should perform their duties with devotion. He said that auctions in open markets should be monitored.
