CJP to hear cases in Lahore registry today

16 other judges will also conduct hearing of the cases

LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Asif Saeed Khosa and five senior Supreme Court judges will preside over hearings of the cases at SC’s Lahore registry on Friday (today).

CJP Khosa will be heading a three-member bench comprising of Justice Ejazul Ahsan and Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, while a divisional bench-II led by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and comprising of Justice Umar Ata Bandiyal is also scheduled to hear the SC cases.

The Lahore registry has already issued the cause list and notices to the summoned parties. Tight security arrangements have been put in place for CJP’s arrival at the Lahore registry.

As per sources, the road between GPO Chowk and AG Office will remain closed for traffic as part of security measures.
Separately, 16 judges, including chief justice of Lahore will conduct hearing of the cases.

The Lahore High Court has issued roaster of the judges for only one day after approval of the chief justice.

The principal seat of the judges comprise of single-benches.
Senior judges Justice Mamoon Rasheed, Justice Syed Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Shahid Waheed, Justice Abid Aziz Shaikh, Justice Alia Neelam, and Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal are also queued for hearing the cases.

Justice Asim Hafeez, Justice Asjad Javed Gharal, Justice Jawad Hasan, Justice Muzammil Akhtar Shabbir and Justice Farooq Haider will also be heading single benches for various high court cases.
